Rahul Gandhi to begin second-leg of Navsarjan yatra on Monday
October 10, 2017
Rahul Gandhi’s latest trip comes on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Sunday to his hometown Vadnagar where he made a number promise and launched the “Intensified Mission Indradhanush” scheme which aims to accelerate the full immunization coverage and provide greater focus on urban areas and other pockets of low immunization coverage.
Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister G S Bali today said he was not a claimant to the chief minister’s post and the incumbent Virbhadra Singh was the right choice for the position.
About party delegates authorizing Sonia Gandhi name as party’s new state president, sources said that though G A Mir, a former minister and senior leader, took over charge of the PCC only two and a half year ago, the move has come in view of the culmination of party’s new membership drive going on for the past three years. In the first leg, Gandhi had travelled through Saurashtra region last week.
Gujarat Congress spokesman Manish Doshi had earlier said that his party was “deliberately projected as anti-Hindu” by the BJP and the RSS. A resolution in this regard was passed during the meeting of the newly elected members of the state Congress and district unit heads which was held at the Vidhan Sabha auditorium here. Four of them were in Amethi.
He had said Gandhi’s visit to various temples during his tour was aimed at countering the “hardline Hindutva” campaign of the BJP and the RSS.
He targeted PM Modi over employment, asking him to create job opportunities instead of “wasting time” and also accused the BJP of shutting down a key food park project in Amethi started by his party, which he claims would have changed the fortunes of the district.
