GROUNDNUT SCAM: Gujarat Congress seeks HC-monitored SIT probe

Alleging direct involvement of BJP leaders in groundnut procurement scam, the Opposition Congress on Wednesday demanded a HC-monitored probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The demand came a day after stones and mud were found to be mixed in large quantities with groundnut stock in a warehouse in Pedhla village of Rajkot district.

State Congress president Amit Chavda, former president Arjun Modhwadia, and MLA Harshad Ribadiya said at a joint press conference that procurement of the groundnut stocked in the warehouse had taken place in a farm owned by BJP taluka president Mulu Junjiya in Nani Dhanej village of Junagadh, in place of the office or godown of Moti Dhanej Mandli.
