Compensate Chharanagar victims, Gujarat Congress asks state

Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda on Wednesday met residents of Chharanagar over the recent case of police atrocity against them.

Chavda in a release said that it has been five days since the incident where police brutality was unleashed on the residents, but no action has been taken. Chavda also said that the state should compensate the victims for the loss they had suffered in the police brutality.

“No one is against the police taking action against any anti-social activities, irrespective of caste, creed or religion of the people involved in it,” said Chavda. He, however, said there was no justification for the police brutality that was unleashed on the residents where many people were dragged from their house and beaten up for no fault of theirs.
