Note ban a disaster, Modi hasn’t understood people’s feelings: Rahul Gandhi
Updated: Oct 30, 2017 13:41 IST
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi chaired a meeting on Monday of party general secretaries to chalk out plans for the first note ban anniversary, being observed as a ‘black day’ across the country, party leaders said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced on November 8 last year that notes of higher denomination had been scrapped.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Gandhi said, “November 8 is a sad day for India. Prime Minister Modi has not been able to understand the feeling of the nation. Demonetisation was a disaster.”
Sources told PTI that Gandhi was expected to discuss plans for nationwide protests on November 8. Top Congress leaders attended the meeting convened at the party headquarters.
The day will be observed as ‘black day’ by other opposition parties as well.
