Vaghela says opposition not getting justice from SEC
Shankarsinh Vaghela, leader of opposition in Gujarat Legislative Assembly, alleged that state election commission (SEC) has become an instrument of the ruling BJP government.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Vaghela charged that the SEC has been favouring the state government in many of its decisions. Without elaborating on his allegations, he said the SEC officials have done grave injustice to leaders of opposition parties just to please the state government.
Questioned about sedition charges slapped on Hardik Patel, convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), he said, “If the state government wanted to slap sedition charges, it should have gone and booked Narendra Modi for his statements made in the year 2002. This government has got the whole plot wrong. How can you lock your own kids in jail before Diwali?”
Former GPCC president Siddharth Patel also came down heavily on the BJP government and said his party was in favour of granting reservation on the basis economic condition of people.
He said Congress will see to it that no injustice was done to Patidars.
Vaghela and Patel made an announcement about an app named Surat Bus and promised to complete the cable-stayed bridge project quickly if Congress wins Surat Municipal Corporation. He promised two new hospitals and a modern school in every zone of the city.
