Patidar reservation movement sponsored by BJP, RSS: Shankersinh Vaghela

Stating that BJP was capable of carrying out review of the reservation policy, he said that the party must ensure that the grounds on which reservation was offered did not exist now.

Commenting on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s suggestion to review the reservation policy, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Shankersinh Vaghela said that the reservation agitation of the Patidar community led by Hardik Patel was sponsored by RSS and BJP. Stating that there were two ideologies in the country: one rightist and the other leftist, he said that RSS and its offshoots like BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad etc represented the rightist view who wanted to undermine the rights of the deprived and underprivileged categories, particularly the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes. There is no space for the underpriviledged and backward classes under rightist ideology of RSS. Stating that the reservation was reviewed from time to time by the Parliament and it was extended depending on the need for reservation for these groups, the Congress leader said that SCs, STs and backward communities had been living a deplorable life. He said that reservation was nothing but a small initiative to get justice to the deprived and underprivileged groups.
