Gujarat Congress to launch week-long stir against inflation

Gujarat Congress will launch a week-long agitation against inflation and rising prices in all 33 districts and eight municipal cities across the state from June 23 to 29. Addressing a joint press conference here on Tuesday, state congress president Bharatsinh solanki, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Shankersinh Vaghela and AICC spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fought 2014 Lok Sabha elections on the issue of inflation and given a slogan “bahut huyee mahngayee ki maaar, ab ki baar Modi sarkar” (There is too much of inflation, elect Modi to power to get rid of it), promising that he’d bring down the prices within 90 days if he came to power.

“But Modi has totally failed in keeping the promises. More than two years have passed since he came to power. Prices are continuously going up. Modi’s policies have failed to control inflation. And poor and middle classes are the worst affected,” said the Congress leaders.
