Congress to take legal course against Gujarat Govt over Gir land issue

The Congress is considering taking legal recourse againstgovernment over the issue of alleged allotment of 250 acres of government land to a company allegedly run by business associates of Gujarat Anandiben Patel’s daughter, Anar Patel.

According to Congress leader in Gujarat, along with taking legal action, the party will also raise the issue in the state’s upcoming assembly session.

“We will raise the issue in the upcoming state assembly session. However, we are also mulling to take legal course. We are, nevertheless, demanding resignation of those involved in this,” former state Congress party chief Modhwadia said.

“We have also sought setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) in this matter,” Modhwadia added.

The Congress has been on the attack mode against Gujarat Chief Minister and her daughter Anar Patel over media reports alleging that Wildwoods Resorts and Realties Pvt Ltd, a company run by the Anar’s business associates, was allotted 250 acres of land at an official rate of Rs 15 per square metre near the Gir lion sanctuary, where the company owns a total of 400 acres of prime land.

Led by leaders like Anand Sharma in New Delhi, Congress has been demanding immediate resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel from her post.
